Even while lawmakers perennially tout the effectiveness of their small-dollar fundraising, the driving force of any campaign in almost any cycle — with few exceptions — is big-money donors.
Usually contributing well over six-figures across a large number of promotions, cash from these donors frequently comprises the majority that is vast of funds, particularly in the essential competitive legislative promotions.
But, while every one of these contributions are reported to Nevada’s assistant of state every quarter, parsing styles from such reports or determining just how business or PAC donors are investing within the aggregate isn’t any easy task, as each contribution is siloed either under specific applicants or specific donors.
To access those trends, The Nevada Independent analyzed significantly more than 7,700 specific efforts in excess of $200 designed to every sitting lawmaker elected in 2020.
That $200 cutoff excludes a tiny percentage of small-dollar fundraising, in addition to two lawmakers have been appointed with their seats in 2021 (Sen. Fabian Donate, D-Las Las Las Vegas and Assemblywoman Tracy Brown-May, D-Las Vegas) and any fundraising by losing applicants.

Biggest of most had been the Nevada automotive dealers PAC, NADEAC, which contributed $52,500 in total, split almost evenly between Republicans ($27,500) and Democrats ($25,000). Nearly all of NADEAC’s efforts had been comparatively little, but, and only two legislators saw a lot more than $2,500 — Sen. Heidi Seevers Gansert (R-Reno) and Sen.
